Information Network R&D Center

OVERVIEW

We conduct R&D in optical and wireless network systems which support high-speed low-latency and high-reliability communications , as well as millimeter-wave radars for infrastructures employing our wireless technology. In the field of mobility systems, we develop traffic signal control using probe vehicle information, and vehicle routing and scheduling systems for MaaS (Mobility as a Service).

Optical Network System

Optical network system – for high-speed, low-latency and high-reliabliity

Broadband demand is growing from year to year with the emergence of new information services such as IoT, 5G wireless and autonomous driving. To support such social needs, we are conducting R&D encompassing 10G-EPON systems and their optical components that enable FTTH (fiber to the home) services and provide communication 10 times faster than current services, as well as Ethernet access devices that make possible low-delay and high-reliability services.

Wireless System

Wireless network system – for high-speed, low-latency and high-reliabliity Millimeter-wave radars for infrastructures

Fifth-generation mobile communications systems (5G), which began servicing in 2020, are characterized by ultra-high speed, ultra-low delay/high reliability, and are expected to be a comprehensive ICT infrastructure in the IoT community.
We develop 5G terminal equipment for industrial use such as plant IoT.
High-performance sensors for infrastructure are indispensable for realizing automated driving, which is rapidly becoming commercially viable.
By applying our millimeter-wave radar technology to infrastructure sensor applications, we are developing an infrastructure millimeter-wave radar that accurately detects vehicle position and speed.

Mobility System

Advanced generation traffic management system using probe data, vehicle routing and scheduling system for MaaS and application management system for connected vehicles

To realize a safe, secure and eco-friendly society, we are tackling the developing advanced traffic management systems, vehicle routing and scheduling systems for mobility as a service (MaaS), and application management systems, by in-vehicle applications and cloud cooperation, for connected vehicles.
Using AI for the processing of probe data such as vehicle position and speed, we are developing advanced signal control systems. Furthermore, we are working on the development of vehicle routing and scheduling systems for MaaS leveraging our expertise in real-time vehicle management and delivery planning. To improve the routes and schedules of vehicles, we are researching and developing systems predicting the demands for vehicles and analyzing the difference between plans and actuals.
Moreover, we research and develop application management systems that have the function of detecting security incidents and the function of preventing security incidents in advance.
